The food and drink heritage of Cork is to be celebrated in the historic surroundings of the English Market in a new event added to the mouthwatering menu of the Cork on a Fork Festival scheduled to take place across the city in August.

The “Supper by the Fountain” event to take place on Saturday, August 16, will present diners with a multi-course meal prepared by three of the city’s most respected chefs, Pamela Kelly of Farmgate Café, Aishling Moore of Goldie and Harrison Sharpe of Elbow Lane.

The specially-designed menu will put the rich and diverse range of produce in the spotlight as the diners, seated around the market’s iconic fountain, will feast on dishes reflecting the city’s food culture and each course will be paired with beverages chosen by on-site wine specialists, Bubble Brothers.

Goldie chef Aishling Moore, known for her emphasis on sustainability and her gill to fin philosophy said she grew up shopping in the English Market with her parents and said she was now sourcing her ingredients there as a chef.

“It’s such a joy to celebrate its producers in this way, surrounded by their stalls, and to cook alongside two chefs that I really admire,” said Aishling Pamela Kelly of the Farmgate Café, which is located on the first floor of the market, described it as a “a living, breathing part of Cork City”.

“This event brings people closer to the food, the place, and the people who make it special every day."

Elbow Lane’s Harrison Sharpe said that he was excited about the collaboration and suggested that the diners would be in for a memorable night. “We’re thre.e different chefs with different styles, but that’s what makes this such a brilliant opportunity,” he said.

“We all share the same respect for ingredients, and the English Market is full of inspiration.”
