Housing body looks to improve Cork residents’ lives

Tuath Housing manages 1,972 homes in Cork city and 710 in Cork county.

An approved housing body which is responsible for managing almost 2,000 homes in Cork has announced the launch of an initiative it says will enhance residents’ wellbeing.

Tuath Housing, which was established in 2006, has more than 15,000 properties nationwide, providing homes to more than 38,000 tenants.

The housing body has announced the launch of the Tuath Foundation, which it says will promote community engagement by bringing together new and existing support programmes under one umbrella.

Those programmes include the established New Horizons education bursary and Tuath Community Fund, as well as three new initiatives, the Digital Support fund, the Social Inclusion and Diversity fund, and the Climate Action fund.

Tuath Housing manages 1,972 homes in Cork city and 710 in Cork county.

Professor Paddy Gray, chair of the housing body, said residents were at the heart of Tuath’s work and the foundation was committed to supporting them in building brighter futures.

“I am certain this initiative will be a catalyst for positive change and we are excited to see the difference it will make in the lives of our residents and the wider communities we serve,” he said.

Tuath resident, Mark, who recently benefitted from the housing body’s New Horizons education bursary, said it had helped him to develop his skills by pursuing a master’s degree.

“I am happy to hear that with the Tuath Foundation, even more supports and opportunities will be available to residents and community groups,” he said.

“The support and encouragement from Tuath has been invaluable and I would recommend to any other residents thinking of applying for the bursary, or another fund, to go for it.”

Tuath Foundation funding is open to Tuath residents, residents’ groups, community organisations, and voluntary groups.

Applications for the various funds will open at different intervals throughout the year.
