Fifteen new businesses have been launched in Cork following the graduation of the 2024 cohort from the New Frontiers Programme at Munster Technological University (MTU).

The programme, which is Ireland’s national entrepreneur development initiative, delivered by Enterprise Ireland and The Rubicon Centre, provides potential and upcoming business owners with hands-on support across three phases of the start-up journey.

This year’s Cork graduates successfully created a range of diverse businesses through the programme, spanning sectors such as sustainability, biotechnology, digital services, and consumer goods.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin and national New Frontiers Programme manager Ciara Concannon recently joined the graduates for the launch of the businesses, both highlighting the national significance of the programme.

Mr Martin said: “The New Frontiers Programme plays a pivotal role in equipping business founders with the skills, knowledge, and support they need to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

“There are some tremendous new businesses and ideas [here], and we have to really double down on nurturing and supporting entrepreneurship and connecting education, research, new ideas and new businesses together.

“This couldn’t be more apt given the circumstances we find ourselves in globally, and the more and more entrepreneurs we create, the better for our society and economy.”

Ms Concannon said: “New Frontiers is a critical driver of Ireland’s start-up ecosystem, offering entrepreneurs not just funding, but mentorship, training, and access to invaluable networks. The success of these 15 businesses demonstrates the programme’s ability to turn vision into reality.”

This year’s graduating businesses include Triple Edge Energy Ltd, Genni, Mindful Maker, A.Chara Ltd, The Natural Veterinary Co, EcoRoots Ltd, Zhy Biotechnologies Ltd, Quartz.io, Noonan’s Control Method, Kookease, TowerWatch Ltd, RowTeic Ltd, AllYouKnead.ie, The Alternative Christmas Pudding and Boots2Base.
