Blarney has been officially recognised at the AsIAm Autism Friendly Towns Awards 2025, which were held at the Mansion House in Dublin.
The awards celebrate communities across Ireland who have demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering autism inclusion, understanding, and acceptance.
This year, the awards mark a major milestone in Ireland’s journey towards greater inclusivity, with Blarney joining a number of locations which are creating more inclusive spaces for autistic people and their families.
Blarney received accolades in the ‘New Community’ and ‘Community Engagement’ categories.
Dedication
A spokesperson for Autism Friendly Blarney said: “This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our town, committee, and champions.
“We couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved together so far and look forward to continuing to build a community that embodies acceptance, equal opportunities for everyone, and inclusivity for autistic and additional needs families.
“Congratulations to each of the 12 committees who also were beautifully recognised and received their own awards. It is so inspiring to see what you all do and an honour to be on this adventure together.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Let’s keep striving for greatness.”
Values
AsIAm CEO Adam Harris added: “An autism-friendly community is one that sees, understands, and values autistic people.
“This awards ceremony is a testament to the incredible work being done nationwide to make inclusion a reality and we look forward to continuing this journey together.”
The Autism Friendly Blarney project is in association with AsIAm, Ireland’s leading autism charity, and their Autism Friendly Communities initiative.
