A former member of the Irish Defence Forces, who is organising the Cork Whiskey Fest in the city next month, is offering a 25% discount to members of the emergency services who wish to attend the festival.

The co-founder of the festival, Laurie O’Dwyer, who describes himself as a proud former member of the Defence Forces, said it was a gesture to give something back to emergency services personnel who attend the Cork Whiskey Fest Brand Expo and Social when it’s held in the Metropole Hotel on March 21-22.

“In other countries, emergency services teams are often given the perks and recognition they truly deserve,” Laurie said. “I’d love to see more of that in Ireland.

“This 25% discount is our way of giving a little back to the emergency services for their tireless dedication, and we hope that more festivals will follow suit.”

Together with his wife Sonya, Laurie founded Cork Whiskey Fest in 2022.

Over 40 whiskey distilleries and brands offering complimentary samples of their finest creations, along with free mixers and food bites, will feature at this year’s festival.
