The bodies of a man and a woman have been found in a home in Co Kerry.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the deaths after the discovery in Glenbeigh this morning.

The man and woman are believed to have been in their 50s.

It is understood that early indications suggest the bodies had remained undiscovered since late last year.

The scene was preserved on Tuesday morning for an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The coroner and the office of the state pathologist were also notified.

The bodies will be removed for a post-mortem examination after a preliminary investigation of the scene.

The results of the examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
