The All-Ireland winning Cork senior camogie team were honoured this week at a celebratory civic reception at City Hall.

The event, hosted by Cork City Council, also honoured the victorious Cork intermediate and U16 B camogie sides.

The seniors continued their achievements throughout 2024, when they secured their 30th All-Ireland senior crown, reaffirming their place as the most successful team in the history of the championship. This significant achievement was secured following the All-Ireland final triumph over Galway last August.

At the event, the Lord Mayor of Cork, councillor Dan Boyle praised Cork halfback, Laura Hayes, and manager Ger Manley, who were awarded the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Camogie Player and Manager of the Year awards. As well as the side’s 2024 PwC All-Star players; goalkeeper Amy Lee, corner back Pamela Mackey, halfback Laura Hayes, centre back Laura Treacy, midfield Ashling Thompson, half forward Saoirse McCarthy, full forward Katrina Mackey, and corner forward Amy O’Connor.

The Lord Mayor noted that: “The success of our senior, intermediate, and underage teams can be attributed not only to their own skills, hard work, and dedication, but also to those who support them.

“Trojan work is undertaken by the County Board committee, volunteers, parents, and supporters, who are the lifeblood of the sport.

“I wish ongoing success to all for 2025 and far beyond.”

While the senior camogie team were praised at the event for their ongoing commitment to the sport, they were not the only Cork players to bring home silverware in 2024.

The Lord Mayor of Cork and Cork City Council also honoured the Cork intermediate camogie team, whose All-Ireland win over Kilkenny, by a single point, saw captain Lauren Homan not only lift the Jack McGrath Cup but also be the championship’s top scorer.

Additionally, the U16B camogie team were praised for claiming the Munster title last year.
