The Glanmire Chamber has launched the Glanmire Business & Community Awards, taking place on Saturday, February 22, in the Vienna Woods Hotel.
With categories ranging from Best New Business to the coveted Taste of Glanmire Award and even a Sports Award, the night promises to highlight the diverse talent, dedication, and passion that define the local area.
The Shining Star Employee award gives people a chance to recognise someone who deserves special attention as an employee or someone who stands out for customer service in a local business.
Karen Doyle, chairperson of Glanmire Chamber, explained: “This awards ceremony is more than just a celebration. It’s an opportunity to recognise the incredible contributions of businesses and individuals who make Glanmire a fantastic place to live, work, and thrive.
“For businesses, it’s a chance to showcase their achievements and gain recognition among peers and customers. For the community, it’s a moment to come together and applaud the people and initiatives that enrich our daily lives.
“Whether you’re a business owner, a sports enthusiast, or simply proud to call Glanmire home, this event will be a wonderful occasion to connect, celebrate, and inspire.”
The awards will also feature a tribute to the chamber’s former chairperson Gail Dowling, who passed away last year. She started Dowling & Dowling Design Consultants in 1982 with her husband Frank, and was a founding member of the Glanmire Chamber, as well as a beloved figure in the community who was passionate about supporting and uplifting local businesses.
Ms Dowling also volunteered with the Irish Cancer Society to drive cancer patients to their treatments, and was chairperson of the Lavit Gallery.
“She believed deeply in the power of art, connection, and compassion to bring people together,” said Ms Doyle.
“We have renamed the Glanmire Ambassador award in her name this year to the Gail Dowling Inspiration/Community Award as this reflects what Gail meant to everyone; an inspiration in our community.”
Nomination stations are now available at various outlets in Glanmire and online at www.glanmire-chamber.ie/awards
