Tony O’Donovan is the latest winner of the Cork International Hotel Community Spirit Awards, which recognise people who generously give their time and commitment to the benefit of others.
The Doughcloyne native has been acknowledged for his fundraising efforts for children and adults with autism in the Cork area for the past 10 years.
He has raised close to €100,000 with the funds being divided between four autism class units around Cork city.
The monies are used to refurbish sensory rooms, buy sensory equipment, pay for social activities and contribute to the purchase of a transport bus.
Tony begins fundraising at the start of each year with an annual spot prize draw held on April 2, World Autism Day.
He has received the support of his work colleagues in Musgraves on the Tramore Road.
General manager of the Cork International Hotel, Eoghan Murphy, commended Tony’s “unwavering fundraising efforts”.
