They had been charged previously with arson in respect of the alleged incident in October.
Yesterday, they were charged with possession of a hatchet, causing criminal damage and acting in a manner that endangered life whereby someone could have been killed or seriously injured by the alleged arson.
Sgt Crotty said a book of evidence would be available to be served on the accused on January 9. Judge Mary Dorgan remanded the two brothers in custody until then.
39-year-old Robert Crinnion of Blackwater Grove, Togher, was originally charged with arson by Sgt Crotty. The charge states that on August 4, 2023, at a house on Dean St, Cork, he allegedly committed arson by causing fire damage to the hallway, sitting room door, bathroom door, stairs, banister, dressing gown and bath mat, intending or being reckless as to whether such property would be damaged. He was represented by Shane Collins-Daly solicitor.
The defendant’s brother, 33-year-old Michael Crinnion of the same address faced the same charge in his case where he was represented by Eddie Burke, solicitor.
