Cork City Council has announced its annual Christmas Tree Recycling initiative, which will see the eco-friendly disposal service kick-off from as early as this week.

The initiative, running from January 3 to January 31, will have seven recycling centres across Cork city accepting trees for disposal, which will be open daily from 8am to 5pm.

The council are encouraging people to utilise the free service, as bringing your Christmas tree to any of the designated recycling centres will ensure that trees are responsibly processed. Participating recycling centres are located at the Gus Healy Swimming Pool in Ballinlough; the Clashduv Park in Togher; the Ballincollig Regional Park; Murmont Road in Montenotte; Sam Allen Sports Complex in Gurranabraher; Tramore Valley Park, along the South Link Road; and at the Cork City Council offices in Glanmire. The council has further advised that any persons found disposing of Christmas trees at sites other than the above mentioned will incur a fine.
