More than 100 people in the northside of Cork city remain without power due to a cable fault.

The fault, reported to ESB at approximately 3.15pm, initially impacted more than 2,000 customers.

Approximately 125 customers in Blackpool are still impacted by the fault, with a resolution expected "in the coming hours."

Speaking to The Echo, a spokesperson for ESB said: "ESB Networks can confirm that a cable fault occurred this afternoon which impacted on approximately 2,000 customers in the Kilbarry area of Cork city. 

"Crews mobilised immediately and have since restored power to the majority of those customers. 

"It is expected that the remaining customers will have their supply restored in the coming hours. 

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

More than 100 people on the northside of Cork city are currently impacted by a temporary power outage.

As a result of the outage, approximately 125 customers in the Blackpool area are without power, with further reports of a number of traffic lights along the North City Link Rd not in operation.

The outage, listed as a fault, is expected to be resolved by 5.45pm.

“We apologise for the loss of supply,” a spokesperson for ESB said.

“We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible.”
