A 24-year-old woman accused of stealing €426 worth of goods from one Ballincollig shop and €380 worth of groceries from another was granted bail on her undertaking to stay out of the town.

Maria Muntean, with an address at Sheares St, Cork, was charged today by Detective Garda Gary Brennan with allegedly stealing €380 worth of groceries from SuperValu on Main St, Ballincollig, on July 27.

Garda John Harrington charged her with another offence.

On May 19 earlier this year, at Mr Price, Westside Retail Park, Ballincollig, she is alleged to have stolen €426 worth of shampoo and toiletries.

Sergeant Gearóid Davis applied to have the cases adjourned until January 13, 2025, for the accused to decide if she is going to plead guilty or not guilty.

Prosecution statements in the case are to be sent to solicitor Dennis Healy.

Sgt Davis said the State required a bail condition that the accused would stay out of Ballincollig between now and January 13, 2025.

The young woman gave that undertaking to stay out of the town.

Mr Healy asked for a Romanian interpreter to be assigned for the next date in Cork District Court.

Judge Mary Dorgan acceded to that application.
