Another Cork business has announced its closure, with Billy Mackesy’s Douglas Village Foods announcing it will shut its doors this day next week.

The popular business, which catered for events such as communions and confirmations and supplied premade dinners and cakes for special occasions, will close on November 2, with the owner thanking his loyal customers for “25 wonderful years.”

Mr Mackesy shared on social media, “It is with sadness and gratitude that I share the news that Billy Mackesy’s Douglas Village Foods will be closing its doors for the last time at the end of the day on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

“After 25 years of proudly serving the Douglas community, the time has come for me to step away from the family business.” He continued, “From providing quality, community-focused food, our store has been a fixture here.

"This was only possible thanks to the incredible loyalty and support of our customers, suppliers, and the entire Douglas community, as well as the dedication of our wonderful staff.

“To each of you, I offer my heartfelt gratitude. You have made this family business a success, and I will forever be humbled by the people we've had the privilege of knowing.”

Mr Mackesy invited those who loved his business to pop in over the next week, saying, “While this is a bittersweet moment, I hope you'll join me in celebrating the legacy we've built together. Please feel free to visit during our final days of operation to say goodbye.

“Thank you for 25 wonderful years. It has been my pleasure to serve you.”
