An Garda Síochána have advised that Carr's Hill remains closed to traffic.

A woman in her 30s has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries following a head on collision on the N28 this morning.

The incident, which involved two cars, occurred on Carr's Hill at 10am.

The woman was transferred from the scene to Cork University Hospital (CUH) for further treatment.

Gardaí confirmed the road remains closed at this time with diversions in place.

Emergency services are currently responding to two separate road traffic incidents, one of which involved a head on collision on one of Cork's busiest roads. 

Two cars were involved in a head on collision along the N28 at approximately 10am.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána advised that the road remains closed.

No further information is available at this time in relation to this incident.

Meanwhile, emergency services are also responding to reports of a truck getting stuck under a bridge in the city.

The incident occurred at approximately 9am at Dublin Hill.
