Cork court: Man accused of causing criminal damage to car parked outside neighbour's home
The case was adjourned until October 22 to allow time for directions in the case from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí objected to bail being granted to a 62-year-year-old man from Ballinlough accused of causing criminal damage to a car outside his neighbours’ house and threatening the owner.
Sergeant Seán Minihane said of the attitude Richard Ahern has taken to parking outside his neighbour’s house, “I have tried everything but I just cannot get through to him.”
Sgt. Minihane said the 62-year-old was already before Cork District Court on five counts when he allegedly committed the two new offences on Monday, September 23, and that all counts relate to the same party, parking outside her parents’ home, which neighbours Mr Ahern’s property.
Richard Ahern believes that Knockrea Drive, off Ballinlough Road, Cork, is residents parking only.
Sgt. Minihane says Mr Ahern takes exception to the woman parking outside her parents’ home when she visits them.
The new charges relate to Mr Ahern allegedly damaging her car and threatening her on Monday when she visited and parked outside her parents’ home.
Sgt. Minihane said evidence included extensive CCTV and video footage recorded by phone.
“It is his belief that she has no right to park in front of her parents’ home and he says that the injured party’s parents should be visiting her at her house,” Sgt. Minihane said.
Judge Philip O’Leary granted the bail application made by solicitor Frank Buttimer for Richard Ahern.
However, the judge attached a condition that requires the defendant not to interfere with the parties next door and not to engage with them.
The case was adjourned until October 22 to allow time for directions in the case from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
