Judge John King remanded all three on bail to appear at Midleton District Court on September 5.

Three people from the same address have been charged in connection with the seizure of €260,000 of cocaine and cannabis at a house in Carrigtwohill, Co Cork last Friday.

Michael Ryan (54), Ellen Looney (42) and Jake Ryan (19) of An Faill, Carrigtwohill in Co Cork appeared before a sitting of Cork District Court on Monday.

They are each facing four charges - two for drug possession for personal use and two for possession for sale or supply. The drugs involved are cannabis and cocaine.

Det Garda James McCarthy gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in relation to Michael Ryan. He said that Mr Ryan replied ‘guilty’ when all four charges were put to him under caution at Midleton Garda Station on Sunday night.

The court heard that bail conditions, such as signing on at Midleton Garda Station, had been agreed upon. Defence solicitor Don Ryan indicated that his client is in receipt of disability allowance.

Michael Ryan has COPD and is on various medications. Free legal aid was granted and Mr Ryan was remanded on his own bail of €300 to appear before Midleton District Court on September 5.

Det Garda Patrick O’Callaghan gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in relation to Ms Looney. He said that Ms Looney made no reply when the charges were put to her under caution at Cobh Garda Station on Sunday night. Bail conditions were agreed and Ms Looney was remanded on her own bond of €300 to appear before Midleton District Court on September 5.

Gardaí had no objection to bail and there are a number of conditions attached as per the previous defendant. Free legal aid was granted as Ms Looney earns just €200 a week for her part-time work in the fast food industry.

Garda Cormac Axson gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in relation to Jake Ryan. He said that the teenager made no reply when the charges were put to him after caution. Free legal aid was granted as Jake Ryan is currently in receipt of Job Seekers allowance.

Judge John King remanded all three on bail to appear at Midleton District Court on September 5.

The drugs were uncovered when members attached to Cork County Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search of a residential property in the Carrigtwohill area last Friday.
