Some of Cork’s best-loved drag queens are set to get this year’s Cork Pride Week off to a flying start with what has been billed as a fabulous, jaw-dropping, and visual show.
The show will take place at the Kino Events House on Washington St on Saturday. Doors open at 8.30pm, with the show set to begin at 10.30pm sharp.
The show is promised by organisers to be a fusion of Our Haus - Letycha Le’Synn, Mia Gold, and Liam Bee and the famous Dublin’s Haus Of Wig: Naomi Diamond, Donna Fella and Shaqira Knightly. The evening is described by Mia Gold as “a show not to be missed, in the heart of Cork City, where you can expect music, drag, comedy, dancing, lipsync battle, drinking games and prizes for the best-dressed competition.
“This will be a very visual show, meaning that visuals will be used on a projector for each performance, elevating the bar even further.”
After the show, patrons can dance the night away with DJ Naomi Diamond and DJ Mia Gold on the decks.
“Don’t miss out on the Pride Party of the year,” said Ms Gold.
“Gather your friends, put on your most fabulous outfit, and get ready to dance and celebrate pride! It’s going to be a night to remember!” Tickets are €20, with limited EarlyBird tickets for €15, and can be purchased on Eventbrite. The venue is fully accessible, with a toilet on the ground floor.
Cork Pride Week 2024 runs from Saturday, July 27 until Sunday, August 4.
Writing in the event’s programme, President Michael D Higgins said Pride was not just a celebration, but “a powerful symbol of solidarity, collectivity, identity and resilience”.
The President said: “Mar Uachtarán nah Éireann, may I express my sincere gratitude to all those who have tirelessly fought, and continue to fight, for LGBTQ+ rights, whose dedication to ceating a society where everyone can live authentically and without fear of judgement or discrimination has played such a crucial role in the pursuit of a more fulfilling, harmonious, just, and inclusive society.”
