Man accused of engaging in affray outside Cork pub remanded in custody

A man accused of engaging in an affray outside a pub, trespassing at the premises, and assaulting two people in the course of a drunken incident in Cork city centre was remanded in custody for a fortnight.

Tony Scott, of no fixed address, appeared at Cork District Court by video link from prison. He was represented by solicitor Diarmuid Kelleher.

Sergeant David Fleming said there were no directions available yet in the case against the 49-year-old.

He sought an adjournment to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions and Judge David Waters agreed to put the case back until September 24.

Charges against Tony Scott all related to an alleged incident after 7.30pm on Friday, August 28, at Oliver Plunkett St, Cork.

Counts against him include affray, assaulting two members of the public, engaging in threatening behaviour, being drunk and a danger to himself or others, and trespassing at JJ Walsh’s Bar.

The same man is also before Cork District Court charged with assault and threatening behaviour at Bishop Lucey Park at lunchtime on August 19.

He also faces threatening charges related to June 10 at Lapp’s Quay and June 18 at Barrack St.
