Woman sentenced after stealing €26 worth of clothing from Penneys

A three-month suspended jail term was imposed on a 34-year-old woman for her 13th time shoplifting in Cork city centre.

Judge Mary Dorgan imposed that sentence – suspended on condition that she is of good behaviour for the next 12 months – on Rebecca Delaney of Cork Simon Community.

Sergeant Dave Delea said this theft was committed on May 15 2023 when she stole €26 worth of clothing at Penneys on Patrick Street.

Eddie Burke solicitor said in mitigation that this offence dated back one year, she is now doing much better in her life and she was pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity.
