'Here for the people': Mayfield outreach office aims to assist community activities

Members of the Tarry Path Group had their first meeting at the new Cork City Partnership Outreach Office which is The Community House, 79 Glenamoy Lawn Mayfield. The group consists of residents, Mayfield East Community Centre, Cork City Partnership, Cork City Council, HSE, Newbury House Family Centre and Mayfield CDP.

CORK City Partnership’s new outreach office in Mayfield has been a hive of activity since opening its doors.

The new office, located at The Community House, 79 Glenamoy Lawn, opened in early February. Its first event, a gathering for International Women’s Day, proved a huge success with Patricia Cotter, development worker with Cork City Partnership, telling The Echo at the time that they were “delighted to be welcomed to Mayfield, to be a part of Mayfield,” adding “we’re here for the people.”

Through its outreach office, Cork City Partnership aims to support both families and organisations in the community and in recent weeks helped facilitate a number of activities including an Easter flower arranging course.

The organisation is supporting in the range of 50 families in the community with Ms Cotter working with established groups in the community in areas such as applying for funding and organising guest speakers.

The Mayfield-based development worker is also involved in helping to set up new groups such as the Mayfield Women’s Shed.

Cork City Partnership is advising that its new outreach office in Mayfield is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and is offering a range of services to the community including educational courses, support to residents’ groups, collaborations with other organisations/agencies.

Cork City Partnership is a not-for-profit organisation that has been contracted to deliver the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) programme in Cork City until 2028.
