RESIDENTS enjoyed an Over 60s group concert at the Bon Secours Care Village this week.
Organised by the man behind the Over 60s Talent Competition, Paddy O'Brien, the event is one of a number of events across the city that brings together former winners and finalists of the competition.

Mary Conway won the Over 60s competition in 2009 and is a member of the concert group which plays regularly in nursing homes.
She will celebrate her 93rd birthday in July. Her incredible singing voice was captured on camera at the special event. She performed two amazing versions of 'Annie Laurie' and 'Sweet 16'.

The Over-60s Talent Competition was founded by Mr O’Brien in 1977 as a means to help combat loneliness among the aged.

The competition heats ceased when covid-19 hit in 2020, but Mr O’Brien continues to spread joy through song by visiting various nursing homes across the city with past performers of the competition.

Lord Mayor Kieran McCarthy also attended the event at Bon Secours Care Village and performed a number of songs including 'Smile, though Your Heart is Breaking' and 'Some Enchanted Evening'.

All the performers were accompanied by Ger Bruton on piano.
