ALMOST 10,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Cork since the start of the conflict in their homeland two years ago.
Those 9,466 arrivals, up to February 6, make up 10% of the 100,091 Ukrainians who have arrived in Ireland.
Dublin had the highest number, at 14,301, followed by Kerry, at 9,673, then Cork, with the lowest amount 848, in Monaghan.

There were 500 arrivals in Kanturk, representing 1.88% of the population, 314 in Fermoy, making up 0.81%, 120 in Carrigaline, or 0.31%, 188 in Cobh, or 0.51%, 389 in Bandon-Kinsale, or 0.96%, 683 in Bantry, or 2.84%, 805 in Skibbereen, or 2.44%, 753 in Macroom, or 1.89, 678 in Mallow, or 2.95.
In the city, there have been 556 arrivals in Cork City North West, where Ukrainians amount to 1.31% of the population, 429 in North East, or 0.97%, 462 in South East, or 1.02%, 708 in South West, or 1.39% and 972 in South Central, or 2.37%.
Nationally, there were 11,312 Ukrainian enrolments in primary schools and 6,873 enrolments in secondary schools from summer 2022 up until February 6.
Statistician Dylan Morrissey said: “There are two maps in this release, based on mapping 100,091 individuals, or 95% of arrivals, to a location within Ireland.
“These maps are based on the local post office address, as per the process through which arrivals were seeking assistance from the Department of Social Protection or, if available, the arrivals’ residential address, where an accommodation-recognition payment is payable to the host of the residence.
“Our analysis also shows that the rate per 100 of the population ranges across all LEAs in the country, from 0.22% to 12.47%.”
Women and men, aged 20 and over, made up 46% and 23%, respectively, of arrivals to date, while 31% were people aged under 20.
Of all arrivals to date aged 18 and over, 62% of males and 48% of females were married or cohabiting.
17,310 arrivals were enrolled in further education and training courses on February 1, of which 14,186 were enrolled in further education English-language courses.
As of February 4, almost 41,000 arrivals had attended an employment support event arranged by Intreo Public Employment Services.
