Overcast conditions are set to dominate the weather in Cork today.

Cloudy conditions will be occasionally interrupted by bright spells and isolated showers.

Temperatures are expected to hover around 14 to 17 degrees, accompanied by light to moderate southwest winds.

Rain and drizzle will be present over the evening, with scattered showers developing from the west of the country in the evening. Temperatures will dip to 9 to 12 degrees.

Similar conditions are expected tomorrow with Met Éireann forecasting strong and gusty winds along coasts.

Traffic

Traffic is heavily congested around areas of Cork city.

Road users can expect heavy delays stretching from the Wilton roundabout to Dennehy’s Cross.

Heavy traffic is also present on the Bandon Road entering the N40, as well as traffic on the Ringaskiddy Road leaving the Shannonpark roundabout.

National outlook

Cloudy conditions will define most of the country’s weather tomorrow.

Friday morning is expected to be “rather wet and breezy” as widespread, heavy rain is set to hit the west and southwest. Rain will ease during the afternoon and clear to the east, and will be replaced by cloudy and dull conditions.

Temperatures will vary from 15 to 19 degrees.

Saturday will again be breezy but with little rain, with showers set to be contained to the northern half of the country.

Sunday is projected to be the driest day of the week, with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle feeding over west coastal counties.
