The manager of Douglas Village Shopping Centre, Bartosz Mieszala, will be leaving his role next Friday as he moves to a new position not that far away.

“Managing Douglas Village Shopping Centre over the years has been incredibly fulfilling, exciting and certainly eventful, but I believe my time here has come to an end,” said Mr Mieszala.

“When I reflect on these years what a time it has been, starting with the centre redevelopment, then taking it through recession, flooding, tenant addition, fire and covid.

“Then celebrating 50 years of trading, countless numbers of marketing events and community engagement over the years to eventually the sale of the centre last year, I feel this project is completed for me as it is thriving and near full now.

“All those moment have brought me, centre tenants, customers and our community very close and created a unique bond that I think only we can understand.”

Mr Mieszala is progressing with his career as he is joining the O’Leary Family Partnership, new owners of Douglas Court Shopping Centre as their property director, a new project as they plan for the future of Douglas Court and the O’Leary property portfolio.

“I’m extremely excited about the new chapter for Douglas Court, Cork is very lucky with families like the O’Leary’s who are willing to invest local and contribute to their community and business growth.

“Personally I’m thrilled to be included as part of this project and the shopping centre’s future, but most happy to be staying in Douglas. This community has become close to me over the years and one I genuinely love.

“I want to thank the people of Douglas for making me feel at home here,” concluded Mr Mieszala.
