Power has been restored by hundreds of properties in the Carrigaline area this evening, however, in the region of 400 homes and businesses are still without electricity.
ESB Networks, on its Powercheck website, says that power is expected to be restored to many of the properties this evening, but an estimated restoration time is not available for more than 200 of the affected customers.
Power outages are also being reported in Timoleague and the Lee Bridge area while power has been restored to customers in the Clonakilty area affected by an earlier outage.
Customers in Kinsale and Aghada are among those also impacted.
Hundreds of properties are without power in Carrigaline this evening.
ESB Networks is reporting that more than 1,000 customers are impacted by three separate power outages in the town.
839 properties in Kilmoney are likely to be without power until 7.30pm.
Some 380 properties in the greater Carrigaline area are likely to be without power until 9.45pm this evening.
People impacted by a second outage in the Kilmoney area are not likely to see power restored until midnight, ESB Networks said on its PowerCheck website.
Power outages are also being reported in West Cork with more than 100 properties without power in Clonakilty and 48 without power in Timoleague.
More than 130 properties are without power in the Lee Bridge area with power there expected to be restored around 9pm.
It comes as Cork County Council has urged the public to take “extreme care” amid the Status Orange wind warning currently in place.
In a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the local authority said parts of the county will experience severe winds.
“West Cork, and the Beara Peninsula, will experience storm force winds with violent gusts for a time this evening, particularly between the hours of 6-8pm,” the council said. “Please take extreme care.”
The Status Orange wind warning, issued earlier today by Met Éireann, is due to remain in place until midnight.
The warning has been issued for Cork as well as counties Kerry, Galway and Clare.
