Cork businesses set for major boost as crowds descend on city for Jazz Festival

Drummer Finn Mac Anna, piano player Matthew Breen, Robert O’Halloran and bass player Jonah Byrne from the band Five To Two at the launch of the 2023 Guinness Cork Jazz Festival in Wavelength at Cyprus Avenue. The festival kicks off tomorrow.
The airport, which is an official festival partner again this year, said thousands of people will arrive from Britain and mainland Europe in advance of one of the biggest weekends on the Cork cultural calendar.
Friday is anticipated to be the busiest day for the airport, and total passenger traffic this bank holiday weekend will see a 23% increase on the same period last year.
Cork Airport managing director Niall MacCarthy said that passengers coming into Cork should expect “plenty of music and fun this weekend, and even more in the run-up to Christmas”.
Cork Chamber CEO Conor Healy said that the number of passengers expected to arrive at Cork Airport over the weekend is a marker of the enduring popularity of the festival.
“It contributes millions of euros to the local economy and benefits Cork pubs, venues, hotels, and restaurants in the [off-peak] season,” said Mr Healy.
