Towns and villages across Cork experienced significant flooding in recent days.

Midleton, Glanmire and Rathcormac were amongst the areas worst affected after a month's rainfall fell in just 24 hours.

Many homes and businesses have now commenced the clean-up operation following the floods.

However, communities remain on alert for further flooding after Met Éireann issued another rain alert warning that localised flooding is possible.

The yellow rain warning, which comes into effect on Sunday evening, covers all of Munster and Connacht.

The forecaster says that rain will be heavy at times with the chance of thunder.

Possible impacts include localised flooding and difficult travel conditions, it said.

The warning comes into effect at 6pm on Sunday and will remain in place until 4am on Tuesday morning.
