MEDICAL technology company, Boston Scientific has announced the purchase of the former Logitech building located within the IDA Business Park on Model Farm Road.

It says the acquisition will enhance Boston Scientific’s operational capabilities and support the company’s ongoing growth in the region.

The 45,000 sq ft building is situated a short walk from Boston Scientific’s existing site within the IDA Business Park.

Since its establishment at the Model Farm Road site in 1997, Boston Scientific has experienced strong growth, doubling the workforce to more than 1,700 people in the last five years.

A spokesperson said that with due consideration to the company’s focus on sustainability in its operations, it identified the opportunity to acquire the long-vacant Logitech building, which has remained unoccupied for two decades.

This move will enable Boston Scientific to consolidate specific processes into a single location and streamline operations.

The renovation project will focus primarily on reconfiguring the interior of the building with no alterations to the building’s height or shape, an approach which a spokesperson said, will ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding area while optimising the use of the existing structure.

A planning application will be submitted to Cork City Council in the coming months.
