Man arrested for suspected burglary at bakery tells garda 'I didn't get much in there' 

A Cork man arrested for a suspected burglary at a bakery café in Blackrock told the gardaí after he was charged, “I didn’t get much in there.” 

31-year-old Edward Collins of 3 Churchfield Place East, Cork, appeared at Cork District Court on a burglary charge and a count of attempted burglary at a garage in the area a short time earlier.

Detective Garda Bryan Murphy charged Edward Collins with the attempted burglary of the Circle K garage on Blackrock Road and the burglary of the Natural Foods bakery in Blackrock village.

Sergeant Pat Lyons said that when the accused man was charged with the Natural Foods burglary he made the comment about not getting much.

Diane Hallahan, solicitor, said the young man would be pleading guilty to all the charges against him.

He was remanded in custody until September 27 to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The alarm was raised at around midnight on August 18 at the garage. The front door of that premises was damaged but entry was not gained. A short time later the alarm went off for a burglary a short distance away at the bakery premises. The accused was arrested a short time later.

He is charged with attempted burglary and criminal damage to the front door at Circle K and burglary at Natural Foods bakery. All charges relate to August 18.
