Weapons and drugs seized after five premises raided by Mallow gardaí

Three people have been arrested and a number of weapons and drugs were seized as part of a multi-agency Operation Thor day of action yesterday.
Five premises were searched where Gardaí recovered weapons including knives, an imitation firearm, knuckle dusters and some modified weapons.
Five hundred euro worth of suspected cannabis (pending analysis) and drug paraphernalia were also seized.
Gardaí and Customs Services also carried out a search of a premises which resulted in the seizure of approximately 3,500 cigarettes, a quantity of laundered diesel and approximately 60 kegs which are believed to be stolen.
A number of immigration checks in the District were also carried out and Gardaí have said these matters will be followed up on.
As well as this, Garda checkpoints and Community Gardaí were out and about informing members of the public to increase awareness of protection of personal property and possessions.
Crime Prevention stands were set up over the course of the day giving information leaflets throughout the community.
A Garda spokesperson said the purpose of the operation was to “prevent crime, disrupt criminal activity, apprehend criminals and to enhance Community engagement.”
