Gardaí in Fermoy are investigating after a male cyclist aged 60 was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision between a car and his bicycle.
The collision took place on the R639 between Fermory and Rathcormac at approximately 7am.
"The coroner has been notified and his body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital," a Garda spokesperson said.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently at the scene and the road is currently closed.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses or any road users in the area who may have dashcam footage to contact Fermoy Garda station on 025 82100, the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

"Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision," a spokesperson confirmed.
"The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place."
Elsewhere, traffic is slow on the M8 southbound approaching the Dunkettle Interchange.
It's also slow approaching the Interchange on the N40 eastbound with delays back to J8 Douglas.
Heading towards the city centre, it’s busy on the South City Link Rd onto Albert St.
Its slow coming in from Blackpool down the N20 to Christy Ring Bridge
The N28 inbound has delays down Carrs Hill.
