ONE man questioned about a drug seizure in west Cork has been released without charge, while a second man remains in custody.

The men were arrested as part of a joint operation yesterday targeting five addresses in Bantry, and one in Dublin.

The operation was carried out by Bantry District Drugs Unit, Cork West Divisional Drugs Unit, and Store Street District Drugs Unit, with officers from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), Customs, and the Environmental Health Service of the HSE.

€140,000 of suspected cannabis was seized during the operation.

The operation yesterday was a follow up operation to a seizure of more than €300,000 of cannabis in Bantry in January.

A business premises searched as part of the operation has been served with a closure order by the Environmental Health Service.

The FSAI has taken several samples for analysis under food safety legislation.
