A pedestrian in his 60s has died in a crash in Co Monaghan earlier on Saturday.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a lorry and a pedestrian, just after 10.15 am on Saturday morning at Old Cross Square in Monaghan town.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
