FOUR prominent figures from Sinn Féin will outline their vision for government at a talk in Rochestown Park later this evening.

The event is part of a series of public rallies which will take place around the country over the coming fortnight.

Pearse Doherty, Eoin Ó Broin, David Cullinane, and Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald will be discussing some of the key issues currently facing the State.

Health, housing, climate change, and Irish unity are expected to be among the key issues addressed.

Speaking ahead of the event, Cork South Central Sinn Féin TD Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire said the party is eager to hear from the people who voted for them as government formation talks begin.

“The election two weeks ago demonstrated that there is certainly an appetite for change out there,” he said. “The public rallies are an opportunity for us to discuss the big issues currently facing Ireland.

“We want to be in government, and to be a government for change.

“The public rallies are vital for us to engage with the people who voted for us and to continue the dialogue as we attempt to form a government.”

Announcing the rallies, Ms McDonald said Sinn Féin will also be speaking to the Green Party later today.

“In the coming week, Sinn Féin will be stepping up our engagements with other parties to bring a government for change about, beginning with a meeting with the Green Party on Monday, and with other parties and Independents in the course of the week,” she said.

“Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael’s plan to carve up political power and to block change is a rejection of what people voted for.”

The political rallies will include events in Cork, Dublin, Newry, Cavan, and Galway.

The Sinn Féin leader has said she is looking forward to “engaging with those who want real change over the coming period”.

The Cork rally takes place in Rochestown Park Hotel at 8pm. All are welcome.
