TV sport round-up: World Cup continues and footballers face showdown with Mayo

Steven Sherlock will aim to help Cork to victory over Mayo

The Rebels are among the outsiders as the All-Ireland Football Championship reaches the quarter-final stage this weekend.

Cork’s clash with Mayo is first up - live on GAA+ on Saturday at 3.15pm, followed by Kerry v Tyrone in the channel at 5.45pm.

The two games on Sunday are both live on RTÉ2 - Louth v Monaghan at 1.45pm, and Galway v Dublin at 4pm.

Meanwhile, we have reached the final games of the FIFA World Cup group stage, with every goal and point now crucial to determine who plays who in the knock-out stage.

Both games in each group will kick off at the same time, with games live on RTÉ and BBC1/ITV.

In Group I, it’s Norway v France, who have both already qualified, and Senegal v Iraq on Friday at 8pm.

Group H will be decided at 1am on Saturday when Cabo Verde play Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay play Spain, the only team guaranteed a last 32 spot.

At 4am, Group G plays out, with New Zealand v Belgium, and table-topping Egypt v Iran, while at 10pm on Saturday, England complete their group games against Panama, while Croatia play Ghana.

Groups K and J then conclude in the early hours of Sunday, and the last 32 begins at 8pm that night.

The sports schedule will be even more hectic when the Wimbledon fortnight begins on BBC2 on Monday. at 10.30am.

Wimbledon 2025 Review on BBC2 on Sunday at 12.40pm takes a look back at last year’s edition, in which Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek captured their maiden singles titles at the All England Club.

Elsewhere, there is live racing from The Curragh on RTÉ2, on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm.

There is also live athletics from the Diamond League Paris on BBC2 on Sunday at 5pm. American men’s 400m hurdles star Rai Benjamin is among the confirmed headliners, with his compatriot Grant Holloway in the men’s 110m hurdles, and Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh in the women’s high jump.
