Chloe Sigerson stars as Killeagh rally from two goals down to beat St Catherine's

In a result that will surprise many, Killeagh got the better of St Catherine’s in their SE Systems Cork Camogie Senior Championship clash at Castlelyons on Thursday night.
It was the Chloe Sigerson show for the winners as she hit 13 of their 16 points. Her accuracy from frees was crucial to their success, along with the great heart and determination they showed throughout.
Even when it looked like Catherine’s were going to get away from them at the start of the second half, they never panicked as they came from six points down to win by one.
Sigerson opened the scoring for Killeagh in the sixth minute as she got six of their first-half points from frees. However, their lead didn’t last long, with Simone Fitzgerald and Orla Cotter combining to put Eimear O’Brien in for a goal for St Catherine’s.
Meabh Fitzgerald added two points as last year’s beaten finalists led by 1-2 to 0-1 after 14 minutes.
Sigerson replied with a free and she added another to reduce the deficit.
With 18 minutes gone Sigerson pointed again, to make it 1-2 to 0-4.
Laura Hayes set up Ally Mulkerrins to point for Catherine’s, with Ciara O’Regan replying at the other end.
With 24 minutes gone Catherine’s had their second goal.
They were awarded a penalty after Chloe Lane was deemed to have fouled Mulkerrins.
Hayes gave Lane no chance of saving to put her side 2-3 to 0-5 in front.
Again, Killeagh hit back, with Sigerson scoring from a free and she added another, to make it 2-3 to 0-7 as half-time approached.
In injury time Cotter pointed from a free to see Catherine’s lead by 2-4 to 0-7 at the break.
Cotter hit two early frees for Catherine’s to extend their lead and when she scored her third, to make it 2-7 to 0-7, it looked like the game was slipping away from Killeagh. Cotter added a fourth to extend their lead further, before Sorcha O’Rourke replied for Killeagh.
Sigerson pointed from a free, to make it 2-8 to 0-9 with 42 minutes played. Hayes replied two minutes later, but that proved to be the last score for Catherine’s.
Taylor Holland pointed for Killeagh, with Sigerson making it 2-9 to 0-11 with a 45. Killeagh then got a penalty, after 55 minutes, which Sigerson put over the bar to put three between the sides.
She then scored from a free and from play to put one between them. In the 60th minute, a Sigerson free had them level and in injury time, she struck the winner to see Killeagh deservedly come out on top on the night.
