While the library might seem like an unlikely place to meet the love of your life, that was where Cork couple Megan Farr and Paul Collins first laid eyes on each other.

Megan, who was home in Cork from NUI Galway for a study week, was putting the head down at the library at Munster Technological University when she met Paul, who was a student there at the time.

The pair hit it off and in 2024 Paul popped the question to Megan at the Shakey Bridge - her favourite place in Cork.

Studying isn’t the couple’s only shared interest of course. Megan, of Passage West, is heavily involved in GAA. “I come from a big GAA family and have been involved in Passage West GAA club, undertaking the PRO role from 2016 to 2024, and currently playing on the recently revived junior Camogie team. I am also the current PRO of the Seandun City Division, and you’ll most likely find me on some sideline with my camera at any given weekend,” she said.

Paul, originally from Little Island, made the move to Passage in 2022 and recently joined Passage West GAA Club junior football and hurling teams. (Although he regularly returns to Little Island to visit Cork Golf Club where he is a member).

The couple were wed at St Mary’s Church in Passage West on September 20, 2025, by Fr. Dave O’Connell.

“We were delighted to have my grandmother, Nora Cotter, there on the day to celebrate with us. We also had relatives that had travelled from both England and Scotland to be with us on our special day, so it was lovely to have them with us and to catch up with everyone over that weekend. One of Paul’s groomsmen Rob flew in from Porto for the occasion too,” said Megan.

The couple’s mothers served as their witnesses on the day.

The bride’s gown was from Diamond Bridal in Cork.

“The dress, from designer Martina Liana, definitely chose me as it was an off the rack dress but fit me perfectly, so I did not have to get many alterations,” said Megan.

Accessories were from Rosie and Dott and Megan borrowed her necklace from her mother.

Hair and make-up was by Ciara, Lauren and Cathy from Crown Hairdressing while the tan was by Áine in Beauty Box Spray Tanning. The suits were from Morleys.

Music at the ceremony was by the Sibeal Quartet while the blossom trees and flowers were by Elizabeth Cott of Wonderous Weddings.

After the ceremony, the couple hosted a reception for their guests at the Kingsley Hotel, but not before they took a detour to Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for some pictures.

They had high praise for the hotel.

“Our wedding co-ordinator Conor was a pleasure to deal with and he ensured that the day went off without any stress. All of the staff went above and beyond on the day to ensure all the guests were well looked after, and had a fantastic time,” they said.

The wedding cake was by Ruairi’s Kitchen which “was absolutely delicious - it didn’t stay around for long”.

“We were very nervous the days leading up to the wedding, as there was supposed to be a yellow rain warning," the couple said. Luckily, the rain held off until after the pictures.

The Brightsides ensured the dance floor was packed all evening with DJ Shane Hamilton continuing the music into the early hours.

Asked what was most memorable about their day, the couple said that having their pictures taken at Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh was “so special”, adding: “We were very nervous the days leading up to the wedding, as there was supposed to be a yellow rain warning, but by some miracle, the rain held off until we got our pictures down, so somebody was definitely looking out for us that day.”
