Cork couple Laura and Greg Crowley didn’t go far to find one another. In fact, they grew up just nine doors away from each other.

“Greg and myself became childhood friends at 12 when Greg’s family moved into the same estate as my own family in Killeens,” said Laura.

Unbeknownst to each other, before that, they had actually made their Holy Communion and Confirmation together in Faranree.

“Our primary schools were adjacent to each other. In recent years, my uncle pulled the tape he had recorded on my communion day, and lo and behold, Greg was directly behind me walking down the aisle,” said Laura.

Today, the couple live in Blarney with their two cockapoos, Bear and Shadow.

Greg proposed to Laura on their tenth anniversary in December, 2019, in Central Park in New York.

“We had been on a horse and cart ride around Central Park grounds, and it was just magical. It was the only day on our five-day trip that it snowed, and I like to think my Nana Ann Condon, who I adored, had something to do with making that day so special,” said Laura.

The couple were wed last December in the North Cathedral.

The bride’s dress was from Pearls and Lace in Donegal. “I felt like a princess in it,” said Laura. “My make-up artist Joanne Sexton worked her magic and we all felt fabulous - couldn’t recommend her enough, she is a sweetheart,” the bride said. Hair was by Dawn Monaher, and despite an orange wind warning on the day, Laura says there wasn’t a hair out of place. Greg’s suit was from Simply Suits.

The couple were supported on the day by their family and closest friends, including their “amazing parents”, Michelle Condon Murphy, Noel Murphy, Majella Crowley and Gary Leahy.

“Honestly, they pulled out all the stops. There’s nothing they didn’t do for us, from my mom Michelle turning my family home into a winter wonderland (I had two Christmas trees in my bedroom!) to Greg’s mom Majella organising a suite in Blarney Woollen Mills for the night before, and we can’t forget our dads who endured the endless list of jobs for getting ready for the big day.”

The couple were full of praise for their bridal party, including maid of honour Molly Murphy, bridesmaids Lydia Condon, Nadia Condon, and Ciara O’Connell and junior bridesmaid Chloe Walsh.

Geroid Crowley was best man and the groomsmen were Cillian Farmer, Luke Crowley, and Sean Crowley, while the junior groomsman was Cathal Giblin.

Ushers were Alex and Lee while the flower girl and page boy were Indie Blu Deacon and Caleb McGill.

“Our bridal party was just outstanding,” the couple said.

“A special thank you also to my brother Cillian who flew all the way from Nashville with his wife to be there for our special day, it really meant so much,” added Laura.

After the ceremony, the couple held a reception for their guests at Fota Island Resort.

“We had Kelvin Long sing our first dance song live; he is an amazing entertainer and of course DJ Bertie kept the dance floor rocking,” the couple said. Their first dance was to Candy by Paolo Nutini-Candy.

Asked what was the most memorable thing about the day, the couple said: “ Honestly, everything, everyone just made it so special. Thanks so much to our parents, family and friends.”

The couple are looking forward to celebrating their first anniversary in the coming weeks and are excited to welcome Baby Crowley to their family in February, 2026.
