THEIR first date lasted eight hours - with a walk around Cork city - so it was no surprise that this couple eventually fell head over heels and married.

Róisín Ormond and Coran Keane, who live in Kerry Pike, were married in St Mary’s and St John’s Church, Ballincollig, on March 15, followed by a reception in the Oriel House Hotel.

The bride works for MTU as a Science for Life Officer and Coran is a Chartered Accountant with Hyland Johnson Keane.

Róisín also plays rugby with Munster Rugby and was recently on the Irish Development side, the Clovers.

Their first date lasted eight hours. They walked around all of Cork city several times that evening.

They met on Tinder almost eight years ago and have done a lot of travelling.

Róisín recalled: “Coran made the first move! He sent me a message saying ‘Press 1 for a Generic Hello, Press 2 for a Joke, Press 3 for Other’.

Groom Coran said his favourite moment of the day was Róisín walking up the aisle with her dad.

Róisín responded with ‘3’. To her dismay Coran then responded in Irish - and she spent the next few days getting a friend to translate it for her.

Some of Róisín’s teammates from Ballincollig RFC performed a guard of honour outside the church. The couple continued the wedding celebrations the next day at the Rugby Club in Ballincollig, where they watched a 6 Nations games, the band These Charming Men played, and they partied the night away.

They began to date and were engaged in 2022 and Fr Ronan Sheehan married the couple, last month.

Róisín’s dress and veil were from Eden Bridal in Belfast, with alterations by Kate Alterations, Ballincollig. Coran’s, the Groomsmen and the fathers’ suits were from Suit Distributors.

Róisín’s wedding band was her great grandmother’s. The engagement ring and groom’s wedding ring were from Moore’s Jewellery, Douglas.

Róisín’s and the bridesmaids’ hair were by Visage, Ballincollig. Amy’s Beauty Salon in Ballincollig looked after the bridal party for all the preparations! Róisín’s friend Noeleen Cunningham did the bridal party’s make-up, she’s Ireland’s only Deaf make-up artist.

The happy couple.

Family and friends travelled from all over, including Canada, America, London, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Northen Ireland and Spain.

“It was very special to have everyone there!” the bride said.

Music for the ceremony was by Róisín’s friend Elaine and her talented daughter Isabelle. Church flowers and bouquets were done by talented Elizabeth Cott from Wonderous Weddings.
