Sean T maintains good form to win the Jimmy Carey Memorial Senior Draghunt at Kilcully

The reigning champion Sean T built on his recent form to win the Jimmy Carey memorial Senior draghunt at Kilcully.
On a damp evening the hounds made a good job of driving the hunt with Tucker of Mayfield trained by Marguerite Busteed running his best race of the season before eventually taking fourth ticket.
Tucker was purchased at the end of last season from Cumbria, but a blood disorder has certainly hampered his progress but credit to the Busteed family they have left no stone unturned to get him back to full fitness.
When the hounds showed on the finish Sean T had a comfortable lead but the performance of the evening went to the runner up Slievemish Duchess who put in an incredible finish but in the end had to be content with the runner up slot.
Mayfield trainers Andrew and Gary O’Callaghan have suddenly found a new lease of life and they will be pleased with the display of Midday Rambler who snatched third ticket with Not now Al and Starman’s Son in fifth and sixth.
Sean T is now making another bold bid to retain his Senior individual title and trainer Sean O’Sullivan was delighted with the performance of his hound.
“This is a fast course, and we are delighted in the manner Sean T came on the finish and hopefully he can finish the season in style,” said John O’Sullivan.
In the Senior maiden draghunt the kennel of Trina and Ken Long continued with their winning sequence as Blue Rose held off the strong challenge of Pixie’s Mexican Dream trained by Mary Barrett of Shanakiel Harriers.
Casey Jack trained by Ger and Jennifer Kenneally in partnership with Ian Freyne snatched third ticket with Mexican Jet, So far so Good and Magic’s concluding the ticketing hounds.
After the draghunt the winning trainer Trina Long praised her gutsy hound.
“We are thrilled as we also won the Donal O’Mahony draghunt and right now Blue Rose is certainly on song,” said Trina.
In the Puppy race the longer distance made no difference to Charlotte’s Lass who followed up her win at Blarney with another explosive finish.
In a driving finish the winner showed no mercy to her opposing hounds to cross the tape ahead of Vicky T trained by John and Sean O’Sullivan of Griffin United.
Championship lead Mossy’s Diamond of Mayfield filled third ticket for trainers Kyle and Calum McCarthy with Blue Lilly, Slievemish Boss and Starlight the minor placed hounds.
There was joy for Northern Hunt trainer Emma Power when her hounds Gypsy Rock and Gypsy Ghost had a 1.3 in the Puppy maiden draghunt with Naoi’s Boy filling second ticket and Something Else the concluding finisher in this draghunt.
