A man died after he got into difficulty in Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, on Tuesday night.

Gardaí and emergency services received reports of a man in the water at Drumaraw at approximately 8:30pm.

A man in his 20s was taken from the water, where he was pronounced deceased.

His body has been removed to Cavan Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be arranged at Our Lady's National Hospital, Navan.

A file will be prepared for the Coroner.
