A woman in her 50s has been injured in an alleged assault in Dublin city centre.

The incident, in which the woman is believed to have been stabbed, occurred on Exchequer Street in Dublin 2 at around 4.40am on Thursday.

A number of crime scenes have been sealed off around the Grafton Street area, according to Newstalk.

The woman was brought to St James's Hospital for treatment of injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
