The Dublin Fire Brigade is attending an ongoing gorse fire at Piperstown Road in the Dublin Mountains.

Firefighters and paramedics have been fighting the fires since around 2am on Thursday.

They said they have three fire engines, a specialised jeep, a District Officer, and a drone unit in attendance.

Dublin Fire Brigade is appealing to the public to please avoid the area.

Roads in the area are obscured by smoke. If you are living in the area and are affected by smoke, they said, please keep your doors and windows closed.

Farmers in the area are urged to check on their livestock. Aerial firefighting has since commenced by the Fire Brigade.

They said to please avoid the area and please do not fly drones near the area.
