Support staff employed by the out-of-hours GP service Caredoc have voted to accept a pay proposal in a dispute over pay.

Trade union SIPTU said it welcomed the outcome of the ballot vote by the 200 support staff held on Tuesday.

CareDoc staff in the south-east escalated the industrial dispute over an unpaid 8 per cent wage increase agreed under a national Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) process in 2023.

The dispute had continued for more than two years without resolution and followed prolonged engagement with management and the Health Service Executive.

The trade union’s representative Ger McNally, said the ballot outcome “reflects the strong mandate of our members to secure fair and just pay increases” in line with the Workplace Relations Commission agreement in relation to the workers.

“The local strike committee worked tirelessly throughout the process. Our members showed great strength, resolve and solidarity in bringing this dispute to a conclusion through the strategic use of industrial action that saw our members mount pickets for a day in December,” Mr McNally added.

He pointed out that pay dispute settlement will benefit workers and users of Caredoc services.

Mr McNally added: “SIPTU representatives look forward to working with Caredoc management and other stakeholders to ensure the agreed terms are implemented swiftly.”
