Woman (70s) dies following road accident in Co Louth

A woman in her 70s has died following a road accident in Ardee, Louth on Friday morning.

The collision, which happened around 11.25am, involved two cars and a truck on Bridge Street.

The woman driver was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The road has been closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 11:00 and 11:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
