The body of a man in his 30s was found in Dundalk, Co Louth, on Thursday morning.

The discovery was made shortly after 8am outside a residential property at Dúiche Roden.

The Garda Technical Bureau is currently examining the scene, which remains sealed off at this time, a statement from the force said.

The office of the State Pathologist and the local coroner have been notified, and a post-mortem examination is to be arranged.

A senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation, and an incident room has been established at Dundalk Garda Station.

A Garda family liaison officer is supporting the family of the deceased.

The results of the post-mortem will assist in determining the course of the investigation, gardaí said.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and said they are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from those who were in the Dúiche Roden or Demesne Road areas of Dundalk overnight.

Investigations are ongoing, the garda statement said.
