Man (40s) arrested over possible gun-making facility in Co Cork

A man has been arrested after firearms were seized and a possible gun-making facility was discovered in Co Cork.

Gardaí observed a vehicle acting suspiciously at Lisanisky, Mallow, Co. Cork, while on duty on Tuesday night.

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a quantity of cocaine along with three suspected firearms and ammunition.

A man in his 40s was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Co. Cork. He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Follow up searches are being conducted at a domestic residence in Cork city on Wednesday.

The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended the scene.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
