West Cork couple Amanda Murnane and Brendan Hayes became the first couple to tie the knot on 'The Jennifer Hudson Show' in Hollywood.

A West Cork couple have made American talk-show history as they tied the knot live on air on The Jennifer Hudson Show earlier this week.

After 27 years together, Bantry natives Amanda Murnane and Brendan Hayes finally said 'I do', with their nuptials broadcast to a worldwide audience.

The couple were wed on the show, with Oscar and Grammy-winning host, Jennifer Hudson, standing in as their official celebrant at Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California.

Prior to the show, Amanda was unaware that Brendan had spent months planning their on-air wedding.

The pair had originally planned to travel to Los Angeles for a civil ceremony, with Brendan telling Amanda they had secured VIP tickets to a recording of the talk show while they were there.

Ms Murnane said while she initially thought she was walking into a TV studio: "I was actually walking into one of the most beautiful moments of my life".

"After 27 years together, I thought Brendan had run out of ways to surprise me," she said.

"I couldn't have been more wrong.

"I went to Hollywood expecting memories, but I came home with a husband and a moment I'll carry in my heart forever."
