A teenager has been arrested in connection with the death of a man following a fatal assault in Kildare town on Sunday, October 26th.

Gardaí said the teenager was arrested in connection with the investigation on suspicion of murder.

He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Kildare area.

The man, aged in his 20s, who was found unresponsive on McGee Terrace at approximately 3:15am on October 26th, subsequently passed away in hospital.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out, the results of which will not be released for operational reasons.

Following the post-mortem examination, An Garda Síochána commenced a murder investigation.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information in relation to this incident.

Any road users who were in the area between 2am and 4am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
